# Chongqing: research and seven compositions

Preparation date: 4 October 2026. The original regional map was reviewed visually; its painterly conventions are not considered geographical evidence.

## Inventory of the source map

Relief city at the confluence of the Jialing and Yangtze, high bridge, stepped houses and high-rises; river boats. Daba and Wuling Mountains; Chengkou. Yongchuan Xiuya: tea rows, branch, basket. Fuling Tea: decorative tea insert. Nanchuan/Jinfoshan: tea fields and basket. Xiushan: tea slopes and valley. Dazu Rock Carvings: sculptures in a rock niche. Fengdu: temple complex on an elevation. Jinfo Mountain: karst, temple and statue. Wulong: natural stone bridge. Youyang: wooden houses on stilts. Qutang Gorge/Kuimen/Fengjie: gorge, rock gates and boat. Wu Gorge/Goddess Peak/Wushan. On the eastern edge of Xiling/Badong — external context of Hubei. City labels: Yongchuan, Beibei, Dazu, Hechuan, Fengdu, Tongnan, Fuling, Banan, Qianjiang, Bishan, Nanchuan, Wulong, Youyang, Xiushan, Fengjie, Wushan. Neighboring provinces and paper background are not carried over.

## Confirmed tea base

Yongchuan Xiuya is a needle-shaped green tea. Banan Yinzhen, Xiushan Maojian and Fuling Baicha are documented regional tea names; do not infer white-tea processing merely from the name Baicha. Nanchuan has Dashucha trees and Jinfo Mountain tea traditions. Xiushan Maojian is made in the Wuling Mountains, including hand pan-firing. Show Chongqing as both a producing region and a city of gaiwan hospitality. Tea terraces belong to these rural districts, not to downtown towers. The Yangtze and Jialing confluence and local stepped riverside architecture identify the municipality. Do not depict Xiling Gorge or Badong as Chongqing sites.

## Limitations and interpretation

The illustration connects districts compositionally, not by map scale. The decorative Fuling inset on the map does not set the district's actual location. Xiling/Badong are excluded as external Hubei. The tea.travel page was used for the tea-city atmosphere; unconfirmed “1000-year-old specific tea house,” pressing of Tibetan tea specifically in Chongqing, exact brick-for-horse exchange, and caravan routes are not used. All tea-drinking scenes are the author's reconstruction, not depictions of a specific establishment.

## Seven independent solutions

### C1: Roots over two rivers

A large old tea trunk connects producing areas and urban tea drinking.

A sweeping root-and-river contour rises from the left foreground tree through middle terraces to the right city stair. The clear confluence is an irregular transparent channel, never a filled blue band. Tree and pan are unequal counterweights. Four short locality labels follow quiet edges; a city gaiwan scene stays small enough that rural tea work dominates.

### C2: City on a tea word

The letters become a support for mountain tea professions.

The word is the main continuous architectural structure. The tree rises behind its middle, the firing station projects in front at right and the sorting tray projects left; these intentional overlaps make one scene. Keep hands and pan unobscured. Jialing/Yangtze is suggested by two narrow open contours below, not an opaque scenic base. Colour accents distinguish craft stages rather than giving each letter a rainbow gradient.

### C3: Five Tea Currents

The path from rural tea slopes to the city cup through the river system.

A branching transparent confluence joins the five origins to the large hospitality foreground. Use terraces, workshop eaves and river steps as shared edges so scenes do not float. The lower title follows the bend beneath the main table without becoming a panel. Half-close encounters and distant mountains create depth; retain empty spaces below the bridge and between table legs.

### C4: Garden of stone and leaf

Cultural landscape with ancient rock formations and living tea work.

An undulating garden contour passes from a tea veranda into weathered stone and finally the arch; no impossible road through the sculpture. The old tea tree overlaps the rear of the large natural bridge. A thin river contour leads down to the foreground gaiwan. Tall serif title is nestled above the central low ridge, distinct from the full-height arch.

### C5: Stairs and a gaiwan

Uneven lively procession along the stairways of a mountain town.

A broad diagonal stair-and-river rhythm creates changing heights, with the nearest gaiwan much larger than the far ferry. Double-outline title arches lightly above the middle roofline. The rural tea branch and natural bridge are interpretive travel encounters, not a literal downtown street. Round pen turns and three bounded colours retain easy souvenir warmth.

### C6: From river to tea kettle

The energy of gorges and the river city flows into the movement of the tea master's hand.

Strong oblique title sits over the central river bend. Use directional hatch only on cliffs, timber and the pan exterior; leave clear water and sky open. The huge near pan and distant boat form the scale surprise. Three inks divide stone/line, warm human accents and cool vegetation details without painting a continuous background.

### C7: Cup of the mountain city

Nine recognizable open episodes, half devoted to tea.

The large upper serif CHONGQING balances the tall tree and bridge. Table and arch sit lower and are different sizes. Let a roof touch a nearby stair and a tea row approach the tree, while irregular transparent glaze separates the other episodes. Do not build a continuous mountain panorama or place nine evenly spaced emblems. Keep the complete word inside the safe field.

## Production format

Generation: 3840 × 1280 px, PNG RGBA, true transparency. Drawing and letters fully within x60–3780 / y110–1170. Final print spread: 3840 × 1152 px, 250 × 75 mm. English only, no microtext or Chinese. C7 contains only the region name. C1 — two colors; C2/C3 — five; C4–C7 — three. The palette is individual for each region. Visual verification and the fact of generation are not implied by the presence of this study.
